Water on Mars

Vista Alegre

/2021

Collection of decorative crystal objects inspired by the recent discovery of frozen water, spotted by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Visitors to Mars will possibly mine the water for drinking, growing food, or converting into hydrogen.

The crystal objects are modelled using computer software to resemble cross-sections of Martian ice. These fields of ice have textures created by millions of years of erosion, reminding us of sand dunes transformed into frozen water.
